The new 800 series telephones are designed to be an improvement from the 300 series IP telephones. The high resolution colour display can be tilted to an angle for better visibility. All Snom telephones are Linux-based and SIP compatible.
The 800 series incorporates high quality wideband audio (G.722 codec) which is optional on the earlier 300 series models by attaching the Snom KlarVoice handset. There are several powering options, including a USB port for Wi-Fi that reduces the need for cables. If you do want the telephone to be plugged in without the USB then the option is there to use "Power over Plug" and "Power over Ethernet (PoE)". The Snom 800 Series telephones improves on the VoIP security using VPN (Virtual Private Networks) acting as a VPN client and eliminating Network Address Translation (NAT) which means the telephones are ideal for places such as banks, medical facilities and military offices. Some other features include multiple ring tones, a 300 entry call log, a 250 entry directory and 12 SIP registrations (12 lines).
